Matthew B. Frère was Tennessee’s first certified
Elder Law attorney, having obtained certification in 1995.
In 2007, he was named to the Council of Advanced Practitioners.
For the 2007 - 2008 term he serves as Chairman of the Elder
Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. He is on the
Law Related Education Committee of the Knoxville Bar Association,
having created a community law program for seniors and their
families.
Matt received his B.A. from Rhodes College, his J.D. from
the LSU College of Law in Baton Rouge, and his L.LM. in Taxation
from Boston University.
Kelly Guyton Frère became certified in Elder Law in
1998. In 2006 she was named to the Council of Advanced Practitioners.
For the 2007 - 2008 term she serves as President of the Tennessee
Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She
is on the Publications Committee of the Knoxville Bar Association,
and is a member of the Knoxville Estate Planning Council.
Matt and Kelly are both certified as Disaster Relief First
Responders for the Salvation Army. Matt loves a good game
of tennis; Kelly loves geocaching; and they both love adventure
boating.
